Spanish Dinner Party

Sangria Roja

Sangria Roja

On Saturday April 18th 2009, Team ISLAS hosted a Spanish Dinner Party benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Clairemont, CA. It all started with a simple comment about our mutual love for Spanish food and culture while feasting on some delicious homemade tapas. And suddenly a few months later, we were hosting a Spanish Dinner Party! But more importantly we were able to bring people together for a great cause, 100% of the $30 donation requested went to the Relay for Life of Clairemont. The cost to put on the event was sponsored by the Islas and Baloglu families (and the cooking and hosting too, but we will get into that later!).

We had a fantastic turnout, we had a sold out event. Which was fabulous for our charity but also meant serving dinner for 18 people. So how did we pull it off? Two couples and a lot of planning! Let’s start with the menu:

Preparation for the event started a few days before. We started by creating our shopping list and our head chef, Chelle, created a detailed cooking schedule so as to make sure the food was ready at the appropriate times and to make the most of our 1 stove with 4 burners. I made the Sangria helped Chelle in the kitchen and played server for the evening. Stephen was helping in the kitchen as well and made the wonderful spicy clams.

Our host for the evening, Miguel, did a fantastic job making our guests feel welcome, keeping their glasses full and the laughter rolling. Chelle also played mistress of ceremonies and made a great presentation just after dessert was served to thank everyone for coming but also to hand out some great door prizes! A quick special thank you to our generous donors who donated some great door prizes:

The event was a huge success and we owe that all to the wonderful friends and family that participated in our event and made a generous donation to help a great cause. Want to join us for our next dinner party? We have an Italian dinner party coming up on May 2, get your tickets before we sell out by emailing us hereClick here to see more photos from our event.
