Earth Fair 2009
Today I joined the tens of thousands of San Diegans and visitors at Earth Fair 2009 in Balboa Park. The wide variety of exhibitors was truly amazing. There was everything from large companies such as Qualcomm, to earth friendly products and service start-ups and non-profits, to pet adoptions and beyond. I hardly made it around to all the various different vendors, there was so much to take in and the heat of the sun put a damper on too much wandering around throughout Balboa Park.

I spent some time at ProQuo’s booth helping them spread their message about stopping junk mail. The response by people was amazing, a lot of people had junk mail stories to share and were eager to sign up for ProQuo’s services. ProQuo is offering a Earth Fair special that expires on Earth Day, enter promo code EARTHFAIR to get your special rate of $12.95/year for their time-saving junk mail service.
One of my favorite discoveries of the day was a local non-profit, Plant With Purpose.
Their clean and fresh design caught my eye.

T-shirts that give back
They have amazing photography featured in their marketing collateral, and they had some irresistible t-shirts for sale (I bought one for $15), the proceeds of which go to their cause to help fight poverty in countries such as Tanzania, Thailand, Haiti and Mexico through environmental restoration.

Healing the Land And Its People
When I got home I was equally impressed with the design and messaging of their website. I was also surprised to learn that they are a San Diego based organization that has been around since 1984. The only disappointment I have found so far? The great t-shirt I bought today is not available on their website. They did tell me their partner organization that makes the shirts plans to make them available at a leading retailer soon. I’ll keep you posted once I find them!
Some other interesting booths throughout the day ranged from turtle rescue and dog adoption booths to recycled adventure equipment.

Our favorite free give away item was a tree to plant.

Green giveaways
Poor Hayley was exhausted after a hot day of experiencing Earth Fair 2009. So I am, a nap sounds good right about now!

This Week For Dinner
The San Diego Earthfair was a huge event. I was amazed at how many people attended and the variety of exhibitors. Lots of crunchy granola.
Looks like a great event. I’ll put EarthFair 2010 on the calendar!
