Cupcakes have become my latest obsession. When I was in Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco recently, I tasted what can only be described as the best cupcake on earth at Kara’s Cupcakes. The current cupcake craze has gotten more attention lately with the growth of cupcake success story, Sprinkles. Other entrepreneurs are following suit and cupcake bakeries are opening across the country. When I started researching local cupcake bakeries, I  was pleasantly surprised to find that there are several cupcake businesses that have sprouted up in San Diego. I have started a quest to visit them all. (more about cupcake history and my Kara’s Cupcake experience in later posts, stay tuned!).

Chocolate Mint

My first stop was at Heavenly Cupcake located at 518 Sixth Ave in the historic Gaslamp District of San Diego. As you approach the cupcake lounge, it is immediately apparent that my furry puppy friend is just as welcome as I am here. (more…)
